When you turn on the tap for a glass of water, you should be confident that the water coming from the faucet is clean and safe to drink. However, in the San Diego region, this is not always the case. Unfortunately, many San Diego homeowners’ kitchen sinks and showers are plagued by hard water and other unidentified sediments and contaminants that are not treated by the municipalities. In fact, most water providers in the area make their money from industrial and commercial businesses, and only 10 percent of all the water is used for residential consumption. Just half a percent of that residential water is used for drinking, so treating all the water used for all consumers is not cost-effective.

Unfortunately, since our water sources are not adequately treating the water coming into our homes, it is up to residents to deal with sediment build-up on and around water fixtures. It is also their responsibility to keep their drinking water safe from sediments and other contaminants with an effective water filtration system. Luckily, we at Carini offer excellent water testing services and have a line of excellent water softener systems for San Diego homes.

Gabriel Carini Testing San Diego Tap Water for Hardness & Sediment Levels

In the video below, Gabriel Carini uses three different water testing procedures to compare the quality of ordinary tap water and filtered water. In the first test, Gabriel uses a bonding solution and a dye to show the contaminants in tap water, including the calcium carbonate that causes the sediment build-up on faucets and showerheads. In the second test, he uses a device that determines how many parts per million of solids are in both the tap water and filtered water. And, finally, he performs a grains per gallon test to determine the water hardness levels of the two samples.

Watch the video below to have Gabriel walk you through the different tests. You have to see the results for yourself!

As you have seen, the results of these tests are suggestive of the falling quality of tap water in the San Diego area. We recommend having a Carini technician perform similar tests and install the right water softener or filtration system to address the issues of hard water in your La Mesa home. We have various filters and softeners, including the Evince Elevate, Insight, and True filters as well as Nuvia Clarity 2100 QC and Summit Alkaline products, to ensure that your water is safe for drinking, bathing, and even washing vegetables!
