Carini Heating, Air and Plumbing was a pioneer in the ductless mini split market in San Diego. And it’s no secret among local hvac contractors and supply houses that Carini is number one in mini split market share and one of the top mini split contractors in all of Southern California. What’s been the growth rate for mini split technologies and what’s in store for the mini split market in 2019?
According to research in the HVAC trade magazine “The News,” the global ductless heating and cooling systems market is projected at $78.62 billion today, with a compound annual growth rate exceeding 8 percent through 2021. This strong market growth is related to many factors, including energy efficiency, flexibility of heating or cooling individual rooms or entire homes, and growing consumer awareness of ductless technologies.
“We placed our bets on ductless mini split technologies early in their evolution,” said Gabriel Carini, founder and CEO. “We saw a lot of early adopters investing in mini splits and saw the market grow gradually about 10 years ago from a slow beginning. The last three years have witnessed phenomenal growth and now customers are much more educated on the viability of mini split systems for whole house hvac applications, as opposed to just using them for single rooms, granny flats and home offices.”
Mini Split Awareness for Heating Apps Still Low
Carini notes that there is still a large segment of the public that think mini splits are only for cooling, and not for heating.
“It’s funny because mini splits are often the only form of heating for many homeowners in colder climate cities and states, and they provide so many great benefits over traditional central heating systems,” said Carini. “Heating in San Diego is often an afterthought but homeowners who know about the viability of mini splits for heating are thrilled to see their winter energy bills reduced and love not heating their entire house when warmth if only needed in one or tow rooms.”
With the strong market growth, manufacturers like Mitsubishi are leading the way in mini split technology innovations. Advanced zoning, new wi-fi features and increased energy efficiency capabilities are some of the main areas where these new investments in technology are taking place.
